Overview

FXS0683 is an investigational, sustained-release formulation of fluticasone propionate, a potent corticosteroid, designed for the treatment of osteoarthritis pain. Developed by Flexion Therapeutics (now a subsidiary of Pacira BioSciences), the drug utilizes a proprietary poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microsphere technology to provide prolonged delivery of the active ingredient directly into the joint space. By acting as a selective agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor, fluticasone propionate suppresses the production of inflammatory mediators, aiming to provide long-lasting analgesia with reduced systemic side effects compared to standard immediate-release corticosteroid injections.
