FY103 is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Beijing Fuyuan Pharmaceutical for the treatment of hypertension. It specifically targets the messenger RNA (mRNA) of angiotensinogen (AGT) in the liver, utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway to suppress the production of the AGT protein. As AGT is the sole precursor of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), its reduction leads to decreased levels of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, thereby providing sustained blood pressure control. Administered via subcutaneous injection, FY103 is designed for infrequent dosing, potentially improving patient compliance compared to daily oral medications. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development in China to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamic profile.
