Overview
**Fybex** is an investigational, plasma-derived human fibrin sealant developed by Bio Products Laboratory for topical surgical hemostasis. It contains human fibrinogen and thrombin; when applied to the operative field, thrombin converts fibrinogen to fibrin, producing a localized fibrin clot that emulates the terminal stage of physiologic coagulation. Fybex was evaluated as an adjunct to standard intra-operative hemostatic procedures to reduce post-operative blood loss in adults undergoing total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty.
