FZ002-037 is a highly selective, orally administered small-molecule agonist of somatostatin receptor subtype 4 (SSTR4), developed by Guangzhou Fermion Technology. It is a non-opioid analgesic designed for the treatment of pain, with preclinical and clinical data indicating that it provides peripheral analgesia without central nervous system side effects or addiction risk. This makes it particularly promising for long-term pain management. FZ002-037 is the first SSTR4 agonist to enter clinical trials in China and only the second globally to reach this stage. The drug has completed Phase I trials in China with a favorable safety profile—no reported CNS or gastrointestinal adverse events—and demonstrated strong efficacy in multiple chronic and acute pain models. Phase II studies are planned for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, with potential expansion into other chronic and acute pain indications[1][5][6][8].
