FZ016

FZ016 is a novel small molecule triple reuptake inhibitor (SNDRI) being developed by Founder Pharmaceutical Research Co., Ltd. for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). It functions by simultaneously inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT), norepinephrine (NE), and dopamine (DA) from the synaptic cleft into the presynaptic neuron. This mechanism aims to elevate the levels of all three monoamine neurotransmitters, potentially offering superior efficacy and a faster onset of action compared to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Specifically, the inclusion of dopamine reuptake inhibition is intended to better address symptoms of anhedonia and cognitive dysfunction. FZ016 has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics.
