Overview

G-CSF mobilized HLA-haploidentical donor PBSC (peripheral blood stem cells) is an allogeneic cellular therapy being investigated by the First Saint Petersburg State Medical University for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The product consists of hematopoietic stem cells and lymphocytes collected from an HLA-haploidentical (half-matched) donor following mobilization with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Administered as an intravenous infusion, the therapy aims to induce a graft-versus-leukemia (GvL) effect, where the donor's immune cells recognize and eliminate residual leukemic cells in the recipient. In clinical research (NCT03381118), it is utilized as a consolidation therapy in older adults with AML in first or second remission, often in combination with cytarabine and the PD-1 inhibitor nivolumab to potentially enhance the anti-leukemic immune response.
