Drug intelligence / Profile preview
g-MSH synthetic peptides (also known as Peptide G) are topically administered, stable synthetic analogs of gamma-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (g-MSH) developed by Teleost Biopharmaceuticals under an exclusive license from the University of Arizona. These peptides act as agonists of the melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R) to stimulate melanin production in skin cells without requiring UV or sunlight exposure. Formulated for topical delivery (including via a patch or cosmetic creams under the Genesis Cosmeceuticals brand), they are designed to provide cosmetic skin tanning and photoprotection, helping to prevent UV-induced skin damage and related skin maladies. A licensing agreement with Anew Medical (now Klotho Neurosciences) to develop these peptides for obesity and eating disorders via MC3R/MC4R activation was terminated in November 2024.
