Drug intelligence / Profile preview
G01 Eye Drops is a recombinant human nerve growth factor (rhNGF) formulation currently in Phase II clinical development for the treatment of optic nerve injury associated with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). Developed by Qingdao WanMing BioCell Pharmaceutics, the drug is administered topically to the eye and acts as a neurotrophic factor. It aims to provide neuroprotection and promote neuroregeneration by binding to nerve growth factor receptors, specifically the high-affinity TrkA receptor and the low-affinity p75NTR receptor. This mechanism is intended to prevent the apoptosis of retinal ganglion cells and facilitate the repair of damaged optic nerve fibers, addressing the underlying neurodegeneration often seen in advanced glaucoma patients.
