Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GA-086-1 is a small molecule neuroprotective agent being developed by Glicothera (a joint venture between Neurevo and Galenicap) for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Parkinson's disease. GA-086-1 utilizes a triple neuroprotective mechanism of action that addresses oxidative stress, intracellular calcium overload, and cellular energy depletion. In preclinical studies, including a swine model of stroke, GA-086-1 demonstrated a 50% reduction in brain infarct size. The candidate is currently undergoing GLP toxicology and IND-enabling studies, having received positive scientific advice from the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) to advance toward first-in-human clinical trials.
