Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ga-68 DOTA-FAPI-4 (also known as Ga-68 DOTA-FAPI-04) is a gallium-68-labeled small-molecule radiopharmaceutical diagnostic tracer that targets fibroblast activation protein (FAP). FAP is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein highly overexpressed on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the tumor microenvironment of more than 90% of epithelial carcinomas, as well as in active fibrotic and inflammatory diseases, while showing minimal expression in normal tissues. Developed originally by researchers at Heidelberg University and licensed to SOFIE Biosciences, Ga-68 DOTA-FAPI-4 is utilized in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging (often combined with CT or MRI) for the diagnosis, staging, and restaging of various solid tumors (such as gastric, pancreatic, head and neck, and colorectal cancers) and non-oncological conditions characterized by active tissue remodeling and fibrosis (such as liver fibrosis, lupus nephritis, and systemic sclerosis).
