Overview

Ga-EC2115 is a folate-based PET radiopharmaceutical developed as an imaging agent for positron emission tomography (PET) to detect activated macrophages in vivo. It targets the folate receptor beta (FRβ), which is expressed on activated macrophages, and is used to monitor inflammation in diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The compound is administered intravenously and has been evaluated in first-in-human studies for its safety, biodistribution, and ability to image inflammation. Ga-EC2115 was developed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center and synthesized under cGMP procedures. Its primary clinical application has been investigated in COPD patients undergoing bronchoscopy[1][2].
