GABA-rich rice bran fermented by Lactobacillus fermentum is a naturally-derived functional food or nutraceutical produced through the fermentation of rice bran with the probiotic bacteria *Lactobacillus fermentum*. This process enriches the product with the active ingredient gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It has been investigated in academic research for its potential therapeutic applications, including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Its anti-inflammatory effects are attributed to the suppression of TLR4-MAPK/NF-κB signaling cascades in macrophages. [14] Its anti-cancer potential, particularly in breast cancer, is linked to the downregulation of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9, which leads to cell cycle arrest and the induction of apoptosis. [15, 16] It is considered an academic research compound without a specific pharmaceutical developer or brand name. [15]
