Overview

GABALEX-AT is a fixed-dose combination product developed and marketed by Zaiva Lifesciences, containing 300 mg of sustained-release gabapentin and 10 mg of amitriptyline. It is indicated for the management of chronic neuropathic pain conditions, including diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, fibromyalgia, and pain resulting from spinal cord injuries. Gabapentin acts as an alpha-2-delta ligand, binding to voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system to reduce the release of excitatory neurotransmitters. Amitriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant, complements this by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, thereby enhancing descending inhibitory pain pathways. The product is formulated as a sustained-release tablet intended for oral administration, typically taken at bedtime to improve patient quality of life and manage nocturnal pain symptoms.
