Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gabawell Gel is a topical combination medication containing the muscle relaxant baclofen (2% w/w), the anticonvulsant gabapentin (6% w/w), and the local anesthetic lidocaine (5% w/w). Developed and marketed by Primus Remedies, it is formulated as a gel for the localized management of neuropathic pain, particularly diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, and associated muscle spasms or joint discomfort. By delivering the active ingredients directly to the site of pain, Gabawell Gel provides targeted relief with minimal systemic absorption and side effects. Lidocaine acts by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels to prevent pain signal transmission, gabapentin binds to voltage-gated calcium channels to reduce the release of excitatory neurotransmitters, and baclofen acts as a GABA-B receptor agonist to reduce nerve excitability and alleviate muscle spasms.
