Gadofosveset is a gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) used in magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) to enhance the visualization of blood vessels. It acts as a blood pool agent by reversibly binding to human serum albumin, which prolongs its intravascular residence time and increases T1 relaxivity compared to non-protein-binding gadolinium chelates. This results in enhanced signal intensity of blood on MRA images, aiding in the diagnosis of vascular diseases such as aortoiliac occlusive disease and other peripheral vascular disorders. Gadofosveset consists of a gadolinium cation chelated by fosveset and is administered intravenously prior to imaging procedures[1][2][3][4][5][7].
