Gadopiclenol is a gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) with a pyclen macrocyclic structure, used as an intravenous diagnostic agent in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It enhances the visualization of blood vessels, organs, and tissues by shortening T1 and T2 relaxation times of protons in water molecules, thereby increasing MRI signal intensity in targeted areas. Gadopiclenol has high kinetic stability and high r1 relaxivity compared to other GBCAs, allowing for effective imaging at lower doses. It is indicated for use in adults and children aged 2 years or older to detect and visualize lesions with abnormal vascularity in the central nervous system (brain, spine) as well as throughout the body (head/neck, thorax including breast, abdomen including liver/kidneys, pelvis including prostate/musculoskeletal system). The drug carries a risk of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF), particularly in patients with impaired renal function[1][3][4][5][7].
