Overview

Gadospin F is an amphiphilic gadolinium-based contrast agent with high protein-binding affinity specifically formulated for preclinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It is characterized by high relaxivity, leading to increased signal intensity in T1-weighted MRI via shortening of T1 spin-lattice relaxation time. After intravenous injection, it rapidly binds to plasma proteins, extending its vascular residence time and thus prolonging the imaging window. Its affinity enables accumulation in atherosclerotic plaques, supporting direct MRI visualization and quantification of plaque burden in animal models. It is excreted via feces and urine and is used primarily in preclinical (animal) research to study atherosclerosis and vascular pathology. Developed and marketed by Miltenyi Biotec.
