Overview

İmegeria is a gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) containing gadoteric acid (as gadoterate meglumine), developed and marketed by Biem. It is a macrocyclic, ionic paramagnetic molecule used to enhance image quality in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). By shortening the T1 and T2 relaxation times of water protons in the body, gadoteric acid increases the signal intensity of tissues where it distributes, facilitating the visualization of lesions, tumors, and vascular structures. Due to its macrocyclic structure, it exhibits high thermodynamic stability and low kinetic dissociation, reducing the risk of gadolinium release. İmegeria is approved for use in cranial, spinal, and whole-body MRI in both adult and pediatric patients.
