Overview

Gadoversetamide is a nonionic, extracellular gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to enhance the visualization of lesions and abnormalities in the brain, spine, liver, and other parts of the body. It works by shortening the T1 and T2 relaxation times of tissues where it accumulates, thereby increasing signal intensity on MRI images. Gadoversetamide does not cross an intact blood-brain barrier but can accumulate in areas with disrupted barriers or abnormal vascularity. It is administered intravenously and is not metabolized by the body; elimination occurs primarily via renal excretion. The drug was developed for diagnostic use to improve detection and delineation of pathological lesions during MRI scans[1][2][4][5][6][7].
