Overview

GAL-301 is an orally bioavailable small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by Galimedix Therapeutics for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It belongs to a novel class of amyloid-beta (Aβ) oligomer modulators designed to prevent the formation of toxic Aβ oligomers, which are widely considered the primary neurotoxic species in Alzheimer's pathology. Unlike traditional anti-amyloid antibodies that target the clearance of existing plaques, GAL-301 acts upstream by stabilizing non-toxic Aβ monomers and promoting their assembly into non-toxic dimers, thereby inhibiting the aggregation pathway that leads to synaptic dysfunction and neuronal death. Currently in the preclinical stage, GAL-301 is intended as an oral follow-on or alternative to the company's lead candidate, GAL-101.
