**Galectin-1 siRNA** is a small interfering RNA-based experimental therapy designed to specifically silence the expression of galectin-1 (encoded by LGALS1), a galactose-binding lectin that is overexpressed in various tumors including glioblastoma multiforme and certain leukemias[2][3]. Galectin-1 mediates tumor progression, chemoresistance, immune evasion, and angiogenesis. By targeting galectin-1 mRNA, galectin-1 siRNA reduces its expression, resulting in potential anti-tumor effects such as decreased chemoresistance, inhibition of immune suppression, and tumor growth attenuation. Delivery approaches have included nanoparticle formulations for intranasal administration to reach the central nervous system, and in vitro/vivo cell line transfection in cancer research[2][3][4].
