Gallium-68 chloride is a positron-emitting radiopharmaceutical precursor and diagnostic PET imaging agent. Produced via a Germanium-68/Gallium-68 generator, it exists as a solution of the radioisotope gallium-68 in chloride form. While it is primarily utilized as a starting material for the radiolabeling of various tumor-targeting ligands (such as DOTATATE or PSMA), it can also be used directly as a tracer for imaging. In the context of Oryx Isotopes, it is positioned as an approved product for general tumor imaging. Gallium-68 decays by positron emission, allowing for high-resolution Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging to visualize physiological or pathological processes. When used as a standalone tracer, its localization can be influenced by biological processes such as iron metabolism due to the chemical similarity between Ga3+ and Fe3+ ions.
