Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gallium-68 NOTA (68Ga-NOTA) is a radiometal-chelator complex consisting of the positron-emitting radionuclide gallium-68 (^68Ga) coordinated by the macrocyclic chelating agent 1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid (NOTA). Due to the high thermodynamic stability and rapid labeling kinetics of the gallium-68 NOTA complex, it is widely utilized in radiochemistry and molecular imaging. Standalone 68Ga-NOTA has been investigated as a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer for the assessment of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and gastric emptying. More commonly, NOTA serves as a bifunctional chelator conjugated to various targeting vectors (such as peptides, antibodies, or small molecules) to develop target-specific diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals (e.g., 68Ga-NOTA-hGZP, 68Ga-NOTA-AE105, and 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4) for oncology and other clinical applications.
