Gallium-68 THP-PSMA is a radiopharmaceutical used as a PET imaging agent for the detection of prostate cancer. It consists of a human prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) targeting ligand conjugated via the tris(hydroxypyridinone) (THP) chelator to the radioisotope gallium‑68. The drug binds specifically to PSMA, which is overexpressed in most prostate cancer cells, allowing for targeted imaging of PSMA-expressing tumors. Gallium‑68 THP‑PSMA offers simplified and rapid radiolabeling compared to other PSMA-targeted agents, enabling one-step kit-based preparation at room temperature and facilitating broader clinical adoption.
