Gallium Ga 68 DOTA-NeoBOMB1 is a radiopharmaceutical used as a diagnostic imaging agent in positron emission tomography (PET). It consists of the radioisotope Gallium-68 chelated to the peptide NeoBOMB1 via the DOTA chelator. NeoBOMB1 is an analog of bombesin, which targets gastrin-releasing peptide receptors (GRPRs) that are overexpressed on certain cancer cells, including prostate cancer and other solid tumors. Upon intravenous administration, this agent binds specifically to GRPRs on tumor cells, allowing for sensitive and specific PET imaging of GRPR-expressing malignancies. The primary clinical application under investigation is in detecting recurrent or metastatic prostate cancer and potentially other cancers with high GRPR expression[2][7].
