Overview

Gallium Ga 68-RGD is a radiopharmaceutical agent consisting of a cyclic arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) peptide labeled with the positron-emitting radioisotope gallium-68. The RGD motif specifically binds to αvβ3 integrin receptors, which are overexpressed on activated endothelial cells during angiogenesis and in certain tumor cells. By targeting these integrins, Gallium Ga 68-RGD enables non-invasive imaging of angiogenesis and tumor neovasculature using positron emission tomography (PET). This tracer is primarily used for diagnostic imaging in oncology to visualize tumors and monitor treatment response[1][2][4][7][8].
