Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Galnobax is a patented topical gel formulation of the short‑acting beta‑blocker esmolol hydrochloride, repurposed by NovaLead Pharma for the treatment of hard‑to‑heal diabetic foot ulcers and other chronic nonhealing wounds. It is applied directly to the ulcer, where local beta‑1 adrenergic receptor antagonism and pleiotropic effects—enhanced nitric oxide generation, improved fibroblast, endothelial cell, and keratinocyte migration, and increased collagen (hydroxyproline) content—retrigger intrinsic wound‑healing pathways in the diabetic milieu without clinically meaningful systemic beta‑blockade.[1][2][3][13] In phase 1/2 and phase 3 randomized clinical trials, Galnobax demonstrated superior rates of complete ulcer closure and favorable safety versus standard of care, leading to CDSCO market authorization in India; Ipca Laboratories markets the product in India under the trade name Diulcus.[2][4][8][9][10][13][16]
