Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Galolay NT is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product marketed by Lloyd Healthcare, primarily used for the management of neuropathic pain, including diabetic peripheral neuropathy. It contains two active ingredients: gabapentin and nortriptyline. Gabapentin is a gabapentinoid that acts as a ligand for the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, thereby reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) that inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and, to a lesser extent, serotonin, which enhances descending inhibitory pain pathways. The combination is designed to provide synergistic relief for chronic nerve-related pain conditions often associated with diabetes.
