Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Galotam is a **phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitor** indicated for the treatment of **erectile dysfunction (ED) in men** and **pulmonary arterial hypertension in both men and women**. It acts by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, preventing it from breaking down cyclic GMP, which leads to relaxation of smooth muscle and increased blood flow in the penis (for ED) and relaxation of pulmonary vasculature (for pulmonary hypertension). Physical sexual stimulation is required for Galotam to be effective in ED. This medication is available by prescription only[1].
