Overview

Galsomes are an mRNA vaccine platform characterized by the encapsulation of uridine-modified mRNA within lipid nanoparticles, adjuvanted with alpha-galactosylceramide. This design aims to enhance immune responses by leveraging the adjuvant properties of alpha-galactosylceramide, which stimulates invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells, in addition to the antigen-specific T cell response induced by mRNA vaccination. Preclinical studies have evaluated Galsomes for applications in cancer vaccines (e.g., Galsome-NEO) and therapeutic HIV vaccination, demonstrating robust antigen-specific CD8+ T cell responses and cytolytic activity in animal models[1][5]. The technology has also been explored as a prophylactic vaccine platform against various infectious diseases[6].
