Galvlay NT

Galvlay NT is a fixed-dose combination oral anti-diabetic medication developed and marketed by Lloyd Healthcare. It contains two active ingredients: vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, and metformin hydrochloride, a biguanide. Vildagliptin works by inhibiting the inactivation of incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which increases insulin secretion and decreases glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. The 'NT' designation in this formulation typically refers to the use of sustained-release (SR) technology for the metformin component, often at a higher dose (1000 mg) compared to standard formulations. This combination is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients whose glycemia is not adequately controlled by metformin alone or who are already treated with the combination of vildagliptin and metformin as separate tablets.
