Overview

**Gam-COVID-Vac** is a heterologous recombinant adenoviral-vector vaccine for prevention of coronavirus disease 2019. Marketed as **Sputnik V**, it was developed by the Gamaleya Center and uses two non-replicating human adenovirus vectors administered as a prime-boost regimen: recombinant adenovirus serotype 26 encoding the full-length SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein for the first dose and recombinant adenovirus serotype 5 encoding the same antigen for the second dose. Expression of spike antigen in vaccinated individuals induces SARS-CoV-2-specific neutralizing antibody and cellular immune responses. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly as two doses separated by approximately 21 days.
