Overview

**Gam-COVID-Vac** is a two-component heterologous recombinant adenoviral-vector vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology for prevention of COVID-19. Component I uses recombinant adenovirus type 26 and Component II uses recombinant adenovirus type 5; both vectors encode the full-length SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein. Intramuscular prime-boost administration induces humoral and cellular immune responses directed against spike, supporting protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19. The vaccine is marketed as Sputnik V and was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health in August 2020; an interim Phase 3 analysis reported 91.6% efficacy against symptomatic COVID-19.
