Overview

**Gam-COVID-Vac M**, marketed as **Sputnik M**, is a Russian adolescent COVID-19 vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. It is a reduced-dose, two-component heterologous prime-boost version of Gam-COVID-Vac for adolescents aged 12–17 years, using recombinant non-replicating human adenovirus type 26 and type 5 vectors that encode the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein. The sequential intramuscular regimen is intended to induce spike-specific neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses. A Phase 1/2 adolescent study selected the one-fifth adult dose based on higher humoral and T-cell responses than the one-tenth dose, and Gam-COVID-Vac M was registered in Russia for use in adolescents in 2021.
