**GAM501** is an investigational topical gene therapy formerly developed as **Excellarate** for chronic non-healing diabetic foot ulcers. It consists of a replication-defective adenovirus serotype 5 vector encoding human platelet-derived growth factor subunit B, formulated in a bovine type I collagen gel that acts as a local wound matrix. Local expression of platelet-derived growth factor-B is intended to stimulate platelet-derived growth factor receptor signaling, promoting recruitment and proliferation of fibroblasts and other reparative cells, angiogenesis, granulation tissue formation, and wound closure. GAM501 was evaluated in completed Phase 1/2 and Phase 2b clinical studies in neuropathic diabetic foot ulcers.
