Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gamamed is a topical ectoparasiticide and antiseptic brand developed by Med Manor Organics, primarily indicated for the treatment of scabies and head lice (pediculosis). It is available in lotion and soap formulations. The active ingredients include lindane (gamma benzene hexachloride), a chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticide that acts as a non-competitive antagonist at the GABA-A receptor-chloride channel complex, causing hyperexcitability, paralysis, and death in parasites. Some formulations, such as Gamamed Soap, also contain cetrimide, a quaternary ammonium antiseptic that disrupts bacterial cell membranes, providing cleansing and antiseptic properties to prevent secondary bacterial infections.
