Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GamaSTAN (immune globulin [human]) is a sterile, preservative-free solution of polyvalent human immune globulin (15-18% protein) developed by Grifols Therapeutics LLC for intramuscular administration. It is a plasma-derived biologic produced through cold ethanol fractionation of pooled human plasma, containing a minimum of 20 IU/ml of anti-HAV antibodies. The drug provides passive immunization by transferring pre-formed antibodies to the recipient, offering immediate but temporary protection. It is the only FDA-approved immune globulin product for hepatitis A virus (HAV) prophylaxis and is also indicated for the prevention or modification of measles, varicella, and rubella in exposed, susceptible individuals.
