Gamma delta T cell injection is an adoptive cell therapy product consisting of ex vivo expanded gamma delta (γδ) T cells. Unlike conventional alpha beta (αβ) T cells, γδ T cells recognize antigens in a major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-independent manner, allowing them to target tumor cells that have downregulated MHC expression to evade the immune system. These cells exhibit potent innate-like anti-tumor activity through direct cytotoxicity and the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The specific product developed by Guangdong Jide Kangmin Biotechnology is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials in China for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients who have failed or are ineligible for standard therapies, including immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic targeted agents.
