gamunex

Gamunex is a plasma-derived immunoglobulin G (IgG) product formulated as a 10% liquid solution for intravenous or subcutaneous administration. It is used primarily as replacement therapy in patients with primary humoral immunodeficiency (PI), to increase platelet counts in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), and to treat chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). The preparation contains antibodies that help protect against infections and modulate abnormal immune responses. Its mechanism of action includes providing passive immunity by supplying exogenous IgG and modulating the immune system through multiple pathways such as neutralization of autoantibodies and inhibition of complement activation. Gamunex is manufactured using caprylate precipitation and chromatography purification processes from pooled human plasma[1][2][3][5][8].
