Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gan Dou Ling is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) capsule formulation primarily developed for the treatment of Wilson's disease (hepatolenticular degeneration). Developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine, it is widely used in China as a hospital-made preparation. The drug is composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Coptis chinensis*, *Rheum palmatum*, *Curcuma longa*, and *Lysimachia christinae*. Its primary mechanism involves promoting the excretion of excess copper from the body through urine and bile, thereby reducing copper accumulation in the liver and brain. Additionally, it exhibits hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, helping to alleviate liver cirrhosis and neurological symptoms associated with the disease.
