Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gandou Fumu Granule (肝豆扶木颗粒), also referred to as Gandou Fumu Decoction (肝豆扶木汤), is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation primarily investigated for the treatment of Wilson's disease (hepatolenticular degeneration), particularly focusing on liver fibrosis and copper metabolism. It is composed of multiple herbal ingredients including Polygonum multiflorum, Lycium barbarum, Panax notoginseng, Smilax glabra, Paeonia lactiflora, Curcuma longa, and Bupleurum chinense. Its proposed mechanisms of action involve reducing liver stiffness, inhibiting cuproptosis (copper-induced cell death), and regulating ferroptosis (iron-dependent cell death) by modulating the SLC7A11/GPX4 axis. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit hepatic autophagy through the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway to alleviate liver damage. Research on this preparation has been conducted by institutions such as the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine and Anhui University of Chinese Medicine.
