Overview
Ganfule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound preparation, commonly available in capsule or granule form, used for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is composed of multiple herbal extracts, with identified active components including amygdalin, saikosaponin A, and astragaloside I. The drug exerts its therapeutic effects through several mechanisms: it induces apoptosis in tumor cells by upregulating the pro-apoptotic protein BAX and downregulating the anti-apoptotic protein BCL2; it modulates the gut microbiota by increasing the abundance of beneficial bacteria such as *Lactobacillus*; and it influences metabolic pathways related to amino acids and lipids. Clinically, Ganfule is often used as an adjuvant therapy in combination with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) to improve overall survival and quality of life in patients with advanced liver cancer.
