Overview
Ganghuo Qingwen decoction (also known as Ganghuo Quwen decoction) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of dengue fever. The name is a portmanteau derived from its two primary botanical components: *Ilex asprella* (Gangmei) and *Agastache rugosa* (Huoxiang). This formula is specifically utilized in the Lingnan region of China to address the "damp-heat" and "epidemic toxin" patterns characteristic of dengue virus infection. It is intended to clear heat, detoxify, and resolve dampness. The decoction has been evaluated in clinical settings, including observational studies registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR), to assess its effectiveness in managing fever and preventing the progression to severe dengue fever.
