Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ganjuhuangtong Tablets is a botanical-derived pharmaceutical product containing a purified fraction of citrus flavonoids. It is primarily used in China for its vasoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, traditionally indicated for chronic venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids. Currently, it is being investigated in Phase 4 clinical trials, such as those led by West China Hospital of Sichuan University, as an adjunctive treatment for early to mid-stage knee osteoarthritis characterized by joint effusion. The drug is thought to alleviate symptoms by reducing synovial inflammation and the accumulation of excess joint fluid (effusion) through the inhibition of inflammatory mediators like cytokines and prostaglandins.
