Ganlibao is a therapeutic hepatitis B vaccine developed by Beijing Huaxia Yisheng Innovation Technology for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB). It is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine, typically produced in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells, containing hepatitis B virus (HBV) antigens such as the surface antigen (HBsAg) and the core antigen (HBcAg). Unlike prophylactic vaccines, Ganlibao is designed to break the immune tolerance characteristic of chronic HBV infection by stimulating a robust, antigen-specific T-cell response. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection and has been evaluated in Phase II and Phase III clinical trials in China, often in combination with antiviral therapies like nucleoside analogs to achieve a functional cure, defined by HBsAg seroconversion.
