Overview
Ganlong is a proprietary oral capsule developed and marketed in China for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Its principal active ingredient is an extract from Periplaneta americana (American cockroach), a substance used in traditional Chinese medicine. Preclinical studies have shown that Ganlong inhibits hepatitis B virus DNA replication, reduces liver enzyme levels (ALT), improves HBeAg seroconversion rates, and protects against both acute and chronic liver injury in animal models. It also demonstrates anti-fibrotic effects by inhibiting hepatic stellate cell activity and modulating metabolic pathways involved in liver fibrosis. The precise molecular mechanism remains incompletely characterized but includes immunomodulatory and hepatoprotective actions[1][5].
