Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ganlu Qingwen is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) granule formulation developed by the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (also known as the Affiliated TCM Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University). Originally formulated to treat community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and acute lung injury (ALI), it gained significant prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic as a regional treatment protocol in Xinjiang, China. The preparation is designed to clear heat, resolve dampness, and detoxify. Pharmacologically, it is reported to reduce systemic inflammation by downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines such as Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), thereby mitigating the cytokine storm associated with severe viral pneumonia and lung injury. It is officially approved as a hospital preparation (医院制剂) in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
