Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ganlu xiaodu dan (also known as Ganlu Xiaodu Decoction or Ganlu Xiaodu Pills) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula widely used to clear heat, resolve dampness, and detoxify the body. It is traditionally indicated for damp-heat seasonal epidemic patterns, presenting with symptoms such as fever, fatigue, chest tightness, sore throat, and abdominal distension. The formula typically consists of eleven herbal ingredients: Talcum (Huashi), Scutellaria baicalensis (Huangqin), Artemisia capillaris (Yinchen), Acorus calamus (Shichangpu), Fritillaria cirrhosa (Chuanbeimu), Akebia trifoliata (Mutong), Pogostemon cablin (Huoxiang), Forsythia suspensa (Lianqiao), Belamcanda chinensis (Shegan), Amomum villosum (Shaoren), and Mentha haplocalyx (Bohe). It has been evaluated in clinical trials for preventing suboptimal health status in individuals with a biased damp-heat constitution, and has also been studied for its potential antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects in respiratory infections such as viral pneumonia and COVID-19.
