Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ganmaoan (also referred to as Ganmao'an) is a combination pharmaceutical product widely utilized in China for the treatment of the common cold and upper respiratory tract infections. Typically formulated as granules, it integrates Western active pharmaceutical ingredients with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal extracts. The standard formulation includes paracetamol (acetaminophen) for its analgesic and antipyretic properties, chlorpheniramine maleate as an antihistamine to alleviate nasal symptoms, and caffeine, alongside botanical extracts such as *Isatis tinctoria* (Banlangen), *Lonicera japonica* (Jinyinhua), and *Chrysanthemum indicum* (Yejuhua). Ganmaoan has been the subject of clinical investigation, notably by The First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, to evaluate its efficacy in managing clinical symptoms in patients with non-severe COVID-19, specifically those infected with the Omicron variant.
