Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ganmaoling Granules is a widely used Chinese patent medicine formulated for the treatment of the common cold and influenza. It is a hybrid combination preparation that blends traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal extracts with Western pharmaceutical active ingredients. The formulation typically contains paracetamol (acetaminophen) as an antipyretic and analgesic, chlorphenamine (chlorpheniramine maleate) as an antihistamine to relieve nasal congestion and runny nose, and caffeine to counteract drowsiness. These are combined with heat-clearing and detoxifying TCM herbs, including *Evodia lepta* (Sanchaku), *Ilex asprella* (Gangmei), *Chrysanthemum indicum* (wild chrysanthemum), and *Bidens pilosa* (Calendula Yinpan), along with peppermint oil. It is administered orally as dissolvable granules in hot water to relieve symptoms such as headache, fever, sore throat, and nasal congestion.
